I have been contemplating heading back home to catch a Mets game, so I started researching my options to find the best prices. I remember when Citi Field was opened in 2009 and tickets were going for at least $20 and that did not guarantee you a seat. Now seats are going for as little as $10 on StubHub. Ever since the start of last season the team and tickets started going on a downward spiral. Last season, Mets tickets were going for as little at $2 on StubHub for weekday games so who knows where they will end up being priced by the end of this season. Keep reading for more information
I found on the team website that they are offering "Dynamic Pricing" where tickets are upgraded or downgraded based on market demand and changed on a real-time basis. For example the team is offering $9 seats for the Left Field Landing, which is located in the second level of left field, for Monday's game against the Giants. The normal price is $35. Based on the demand for Mets tickets, every adjusted price will accommodate the fan unless this season's team replicates the "1969 Miracle Mets" and finds a way to make a run at the playoffs.
If you are planning a trip to New York this summer, StubHub is still the best option to find a great seat for a reasonable price. Fans should also sign up for the team newsletter (Flushing Flash) and follow the Mets on Twitter and Facebook for ticket deals. Also keep in mind the amount of viewing sites Citi Field offers. You can watch in either the infield terrace, out in right field in the Pepsi porch or in centerfield. The stadium set up allows for plenty of places to stand and watch the game if you are looking to just get into the park at the cheapest price.
